Matthew Albert Neil Shaw Jr was born on 2 February 1901 in Roxbury, Boston, Massachusetts, the son of Jessie Eleanor Johnson and Matthew Albert Neil Shaw.^[1]

In the 1910 census, he was nine years old and living with his family in Boston.^[2]

In the 1920 census, he was 19 years old and living with his family in Boston.^[3]

In the 1930 census, he was 29 years old and living with his widowed mother and two siblings in Boston. He was working as a chauffeur for a private family.^[4]

• Matthew Jr seems to vanish from United States records after the 1930 census.
• This is more than likely him in the 1932 US City Directory.^[5] 1936 US City Directory ^[6]
