Niccolò Sfondrato or Sfondrati was born 11 February 1535 at Somma Lombardo, Duchy of Milan to Francesco Sfondrati. He died 16 October 1591 (aged 56) in Rome, Papal States. He was ordained a priest in 1551 and consecrated a bishop on 13 March 1564 by St Charles Borromeo. He was created a Cardinal on 12 December 1583 by Gregory XIII. [1]
