Franz, son of Sebastian Schimpf and Catharina Heintz, was born 11 October 1786^{[citation needed]} in Bavaria in what is now Germany.

He married Magdalena née Schimpf with whom he had children:

1. Maria Otilia Schimpf (1816–unknown).^[1] Godparents: Franz Andreas Wilhelm [husband of his sister Catharina (Schimpf) Wilhelm] and Marie Otilia Schlick, wife of Jakob Schimpf.
2. Franz Schimpf (1819–unknown).^[2] Godparents: Franz Andreas Wilhelm [husband of his sister Catharina (Schimpf) Wilhelm] and Maria Anna Ritter.
3. Catharina (Schimpf) Rink (1820–unknown).^[3] Godparents: Georg Heintz and Catharina Schimpf, wife of Franz Andreas Wilhelm.
4. Jakob Schimpf (1823–1887).^[4] Godparents: Jakob Schimpf and Elisabetha Zilcoz, wife of Valentin Vogel.

He was godfather to his brother Jakob's daughter Sibila Schimpf.^[9]

Research Notes

• Parents: More research is needed to confirm the names of his parents. There is circumstantial evidence that he is the brother of Johann Schimpf, whose marriage record provides the above names.
• Disambiguation: There is a Franz Konrad Schimpf married to Magdalena Fuchs in Schaidt. It appears that these are different individuals with Franz Konrad likely being about 10-15 years younger based on birth of the children of each.
