Mary was born in 1799 in Vermillion Lake, Dakota, Minnesota, United States. She was the daughter of John Thomas Sayer and Obemaunoqua (Obemau-Unoqua) Sayer.^[1]

When Mary was about 17 she married in 1820 in Mackinaw City, Cheboygan, Michigan, United States.^[2]

In 1860 Mary (age about 57) was living in Crow Wing, Crow Wing, Minnesota, United States.^[3][4]
