Charles Carty Salmon was born in 1861 at Amherst, Victoria, Australia, a gold rush town near Maryborough, Victoria, the son of Susannah Salmon and Frederick Browne Salmon.

Death
Charles died in 1917 in South Yarra, Victoria, aged 56.[4][3]
Just three days after retaining the seat of Grampians at the May 1917 Election, Salmon collapsed at his office and withdrew to his home at South Yarra. He died there on 15 September from a cerebral tumour.[1]
