At St. Mark's Church of England, Nimbin, on September 10, a very pretty wedding was celebrated, when Ethel Lena, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Smith, of Nimbin, was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to William Clyde, second son of Mr. and Mrs. Salkeld, of Wadeville. The bride, who was given away by her father, was very daintily frocked in a dress of ivory satin, trimmed with radium lace, with a spray of orange blossoms. Her beautiful limerick lace veil was held in place by a cluster of orange blossoms, and she carried a bouquet of arum lilies and white roses. Miss Elizabeth Salkeld (bridesmaid) wore a dainty frock of pink fuji silk, with pure lace trimmings and a hat to match. Miss Alexandra Mary Salkeld (train bearer) wore a cream fuji silk dress with a mob cap. Miss Alexandra Smith (rosegirl) wore a frock of radium lace, with blue trimmings, and a trail of pink and white roses on her head. The bridegroom's gift to the bride was a beautiful coat and gold armlet. The bride's gift, to the bridegroom, was a xylonite brush and comb. The bridegroom's gift to the bridesmaid was a gold armlet; trainbearer's gift, a gold brooch; rose girl, a gold bangle. Miss Joyce Cullen presided as organist. Mr. and Mrs. J. Smith received some fifty guests at the School of Arts, where the tables were decorated with sweet peas of different shades. The catering in the hands of Mr. W. Duncan was well carried out. The Rev. Alexander presided at the breakfast, several toasts being honoured. Councillor Cullen spoke very highly of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Smith. Mrs. Smith, mother of the bride, wore a frock of black satin charmeuse, relieved with black radium lace and grey beads, with a pretty hat to match. The bridegroom's mother wore a dress of navy blue, relieved with blue trimmings and hat to tone. The bride and bridegroom left for Murwillumbah by car later in the afternoon. The bride's travelling dress was of grey suede silk, relieved with pale blue trimmings, with hat to match. Among the many presents received were numerous cheques, beautiful cutlery and telegrams bearing congratulations. The wedding cake (a three tier one) was made by Mr. A.E. Sheather, of Nimbin.
