Biography

Daughter of Irish-born James Alexander and Mary Capron Russell, she was the founding director in 1933 of the University of Toronto School of Nursing.

Recipeint of the Florence Nightingale Medal (1949) from the Red Cross Society, its highest award.

Subject of a retrospective monograph titled, A Divine Discontent, by Helen M. Carpenter (1982)
