Biography

Delilah Rue was born in 1839 in Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Charles Rue and his wife, Cynthia (Cook) Rue.

About 1860 in Illinois, she married John McClatchey (1835-1904). They had at least 3 children, including Minnie (McClatchey) Orvis (abt.1874-1936).

"Lilah" (Delilah) and John McClatchey, both age 50, John's widowed mother: Elizabeth McClatchey, age 90, plus several children & grandkids, were all recorded living on his and Delilah's farm in Delaware Twp., Delaware County, Iowa, on the 1895 Iowa State Census. He was a "Farmer". His daughter, Minnie, age 18, & her husband Frank Orvis, 24, were among the family recorded there. ^[1]

John McClatchey passed away in April 1904 in Rock Creek, Pine, Minnesota, USA.

His wife, Delilah (Rue) McClatchey survived her husband's passing. She passed away at 82 years old on 2 September 1921 in Rush City, Chisago County, Minnesota, USA. She was buried next to her deceased husband at Rock Creek Cemetery, Pine County, Minnesota, USA. ^[2]
