Hello Ryan, and welcome to Wikitree! There's a bit of a learning curve here, but I found after a few months I got the swing of things. I see that you've attached Randall Carlyle Melton (abt.1792-1874) as a son of John Melton (1751-1813). I found Randall's profile on familysearch.org and attached it to his profile here. There's no proven link between these men. Also, the mother doesn't match what's shown on familysearch either. Now, Familysearch is a compilation of other people's work, so it is not entirely accurate, and sometimes quite wrong. However, since you haven't provided sources for these relationships, I suggest that they need more evidence before the links should be made.

These early US ancestors affect a lot of us; John Melton is a relative of my nephew, whose ancestry I am compiling.

Even easier, there's a browser plug-in that I'm really enjoying, called Sourcer. It will automate finding sources and pasting them in. It can even “write” the biography based on the sources; all you do is copy and paste.
