Matthew MacKenzie Robinson was an American track and field athlete. He won a silver medal in the 1936 Summer Olympics, where he broke the Olympic record in the 200 meters.[1]
He was the son of Jerry Robinson and Mallie McGriff.
When he was 6 years old, his mother moved the family from Georgia to California.
He was a graduate of Muir Technical High and Pasadena Junior (now City) College. He also attended the University of Oregon for one year.
He won a silver medal in the 200 meter race at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, Germany. He finished only 0.4 seconds behind Jessie Owens.
He worked for the city of Pasadena in a variety of capacities for many years, and also was actively involved in volunteer work with youth groups, particularly in the troubled northwest part of Pasadena, CA.
He was married at least 5 times.
He first married on 01 Aug 1938 in Orange County, California to Grace Opal (SHEPPERD) BROOKS [2] and they had 2 children:

He suffered a stroke on Christmas Day 1990 and underwent quintuple bypass heart surgery in June 1991.
