Biography

Matthew Rice immigrated to New England as a child during the Puritan Great Migration (1621-1640).

Matthew Rice was baptized on 28 February 1628/29 at St Peter's Church, Berkhamstead, co Hertfordshire, England.

He married Martha Lamson, daughter of Barnabas Lamson and Mary Liggett, on 7 July 1654 at Sudbury, MA.[1]

He and Martha Lamson resided circa 1655 at Sudbury, MA.

Matthew Rice left a will dated 14 October 1716, proved 30 December 1717.[2] The will mentioned wife Martha; son Isaac (executor); daughters Martha Bent, Deborah Sawin, Dorothy Ware, Patience Leland; four (unnamed) children of daughter Sarah Loker, deceased. Inventory on 29 November 1717.

Matthew Rice died in 1717 at Sudbury, MA; about 89 years (not found in the published records).
