Susie Revels was born on January 01, 1870 in Natchez, Adams, Mississippi, United States. Her parents were Hiram Revels and Phoebe Bass. She married Horace Cayton on July 12, 1896. Together they had ~6 children:
She passed away on July 28, 1943 in Chicago, Cook, Illinois, United States.
The Revels-Cayton family was important to early-1900s Seattle. <Popular historian "The Mossback" said in one of his newsletters[1], "The Cayton-Revels were a prosperous turn-of-the-century Black family that produced an important newspaper, and whose home on Capitol Hill was recently landmarked by the city. The story of their rise and fall, from Reconstruction to a late 19th century “moment of hope” for African Americans and their enduring growing racial prejudice is painful, but also fueled the new generation of family activism."
