Biography

Helena was the first daughter born to Meta and Otto and was not quite fourteen years of age when her mother died.

She would have been able to help care for her youngest sister, Laura, who was six years of age when the seven children were taken by their grandparents to live with them in a stable and loving situation.

It is not known how old Helena was at the time that she was riding a horse while staying with a Rechner family in the Barossa Valley. However, she fell from the horse, which kicked her head.

It is not known whether her grandparents were able to care for her, but she died, aged 81, at the Northfield Hospital in 1963.

Cause of death, Senile Dementia and malnutrition. Helena died in the Northfield Mental Hospital, Adelaide, South Australia.
