Just checking in for the Mayflower Project. Please let me know if you're still interested in being part of the project.
First you will need to reference your DNA test in your profile under the main header at top of page 'Add' then select DNA Test Information in the drop-down box. It will then provide you with the various testing companies and you will enter the id you used with that company when the test was completed. Also, a way that you can compare your DNA is to download it from the original testing company and then create a profile with GEDcom and get an id from them. You would then come back here and add that id number as a secondary test reference. After adding your DNA, others will see your test come up as a tester on an ancestors page that is within your tree or other searches. Then by comparing yours and another Wikitreer's GEDcom you can quickly identify a match. GEDcom has a learning curve as well, so when comparing older than 1800s you have to tweak the default test results to 3 cM matching, rather than the default 7cM in order to get the results.
I was able to compare our trees and found that we both have a common ancestor: Sarah (Bowen) Fuller. I am not able to prove beyond this generation other than by my mother's DNA matching with others Wikitreers', who are proven Mayflower descendents. It is a complex issue and any research you do would be greatly appreciated!
Regards, Ariel Jolley
Because Pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within a project coordinating them is essential. Please ensure location data matches dates of profile, avoid abbreviations, add sources with citations & links for sources to support the data. From wiki ID go to Research to find sources
The US History Project would be of interest. Adding the tag US_History will connect you
Explore Pre-1700 Projects list to find one that fits your research focus, whether time period, location, or topic please read the goals & tasks of the project
