Birth

Sarah was born in 1854 in Hanborough, Oxfordshire.^[1] She was the illegitimate daughter of Jane Putt. Her baptism took place at St Peter and St Paul, Hanborough on 26th April 1854.^[2] No father was recorded and the register simply notes that Jane was a single woman.

First Marriage

Elias Oldaker and Sarah Putt were married in Church Hanborough, Oxfordshire on 24th December 1871^[3]. They were bachelor and spinster and both living in Hanborough at the time. Elias was of full age, working as a hawker and stated of his father only that he was deceased. Sarah was 19, a gloveress and stated that her father was John Trueman who was a shoe-maker. Elias signed his own name on the register whilst Sarah could only make her mark with a cross and the witnesses to the marriage were James Oldaker and Susan Oldaker^[4].

Second Marriage

George Dix and Sarah Oldaker were married in Church Hanborough, Oxfordshire on 24th December 1885^[5]. They were bachelor and widow, both of full age and living in Hanborough. George was a blacksmith and stated of his father only that he was deceased. Sarah was the daughter of John Truman who was a shoe-maker. They each signed their own name on the register and the witnesses to the marriage were John Truman and Annie Truman^[6].
