Birth

Elias was baptised at St Peter and St Paul, Hanborough on 9th April 1837.^[1] He was the son of Thomas Oldacre and Amelia Boddington. His father stated on the register that he was a labourer.

Marriage

Elias Oldaker and Sarah Putt were married in Church Hanborough, Oxfordshire on 24th December 1871^[2]. They were bachelor and spinster and both living in Hanborough at the time. Elias was of full age, working as a hawker and stated of his father only that he was deceased. Sarah was 19, a gloveress and stated that her father was John Trueman who was a shoe-maker. Elias signed his own name on the register whilst Sarah could only make her mark with a cross and the witnesses to the marriage were James Oldaker and Susan Oldaker^[3].

Research Notes

The 1841 census records the name Eliza as a female born in 1837. However there is no record of Eliza in the baptism register nor in subsequent censuses so think this was recorded incorrectly by the census taker and this entry was actually for Elias.
