Francis Purdy had large proprietary rights in Rye, New York before 1700. His house and lot were located on Wolf Pit--afterwards called Pulpit Ridge. Records show that in 1722 he gave all his land and house in Rye to his son Daniel, who in turn promised to leave his parents in possession of it during their lives.
After Francis Purdy's father died in 1658, he moved with his mother to Rye, Westchester Co., New York.
