Pepin dit Lachance-16 and Pupin-2 appear to represent the same person because: same man, dates etc, merge into Pupin-2, dit names don't go in LNAB

this profile should not be listed under the name Pupin as this person never used that name as it was a misspelling in the baptism record that was corrected by the priest. The profile should not have been merged without consent of the managers of the profile and should be returned to the original ID

Hello Allan,

Please note that we do not know who wrote in the margin after the priest Torcapel wrote this record, nor when it was written. The last name at birth for this man was indeed Pupin, as shown by the record itself. That's how it was written originally. That it may have been a mis-spelling is beside the point really. There are a huge number of name variations in spelling on records. Some of them even survived to this day. There should not be conflict on this point. See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Quebecois Québécois project page for guidelines on names and location names, which also apply later. Thank you

Danielle, project coordinator
