Robert E Pung was born on 22 May 1915 in Rochester, Monroe, New York, the second of two children of German-Americans Joseph Albert Pung and Margaret E Kroeckel.

He passed away on 3 October 1915 in Rochester and was buried in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
