Goals

This is a One Name Study to collect together in one place everything about one surname and the variants of that name. The hope is that other researchers like you will join our study to help make it a valuable reference point for people studying lines that cross or intersect.

Scope

• The scope of the project is to put all the correct profiles (decendants) of John Skeel/Skeels or possibly Skeele of Connecticut into WikiTree and verify with sources what we believe to be factual. The project begins 14-Jun-2020 and will end 21 Dec 2020 or maybe extended if not completed to the satisfaction of the team.

Task List

Hello, and all are welcome to join this project that is focused on the descendants of John Skeel I of Connecticut whose parents may have been John Skelles b. approx 1860 England and his wife Agnis Bruce (Brice). (Need a SOURCE as to pre-1700 guidelines). Of course there are errors in the 1931 and 1950's family charts. The aim is with everyone's help to fill in the correct information or add what is not yet there.

• 1) Kickoff the project
  • Kirt will notify potential team members of this new "Skeel/Skeels/Skeele All-One Name Study Project".
    • Kirt will list members who wish to join the project, so they can coordinate tasks with eachother and avoid duplication or conflicts with other tasks.
    • Members will coordinate updates and revisions!
• 2) Collect all possible candidates for sorting and verification of the family line
  • Use familysearch to collect all know John Skelles line. complete
  • Use Find-A-Grave to review the family unit there and collect all data on each profile.complete
• 3) Review the collected data from the two sites and and markup what appears to be missing or incorrect within the family units.complete
  • Review existing geneology documents and compare family units within them and corroberate with the team how to proceed. If these are used as a source, we must list our source and add it to familysearch and on the WikiTree profile pages and give credit where credit is due. in process 6-25-20 S.L. Dewald Leader

  • Update Familysearch with missing records and remove duplicated or notations of misplaced or orphaned facts.completed
  • Send to Find-A-Grave missing family members who are found and unattached to their parents and spouses and children. ongoing
    • Add corrections if found such as missing places of birth or death or dates if sources can provide them. ongoing
  • sort through the profiles that are in question, and merge where they are duplicated or remove them if no record can be found. (It is also possible we leave them, and if already on WikiTree, place a note at top of the biography "Needs to be Verified" "Template:Needs Sources"
• 4) Upload the data to WikiTree in a GEDCOM file for review and update and addition. Need to do both to freshen records already existing. completed
  • Notify profile managers if we need to attach to an existing profile if locked or private and being added to their trusted list is possible to avoid duplication as well as miss DNA candidates that will not come across if left unattached.
    • It's at this point we will have the team review the new batch Kirt uploaded to WikiTree and assign a team member to review what is now on WikiTree to check for omissions or errors.""
• 5) Use the FamilySearch tool within WikiTree to freshen all records with reviewed sources.
• 6) Team members to review our progress and update / cleanup profiles.
• 7) Attempt to contact living WikiTree members who are now attached to the project so they are aware. Add their DNA if they are willing to share.
