About the Project

The Nothstein Name Study project serves as a collaborative platform to collect information on the Nothstein name. The hope is that other researchers like you will join the study to help make it a valuable reference point for other genealogists who are researching or have an interest in the Nothstein name.

As a One Name Study, this project is not limited to persons who are related biologically. Individual studies can be used to branch out the research into specific methods and areas of interest, such as geographically (England Nothsteins), by time period (18th Century Nothsteins), or by topic (Nothstein DNA, Nothstein Occupations, Nothstein Statistics). These studies may also include a number of family branches which have no immediate link with each other. Some researchers may even be motivated to go beyond the profile identification and research stage to compile fully sourced, single-family histories of some of the families they discover through this name study project.

• Nothstein history

• Nothstein Categories Several categories are available to place family members. New categories can be created and many family members awaiting to be placed in a category.

• There has been a discovery as to who Hans Micahael's father is. It is currently listed, and generally accepted as Friedlin Nothstein. New information shows he was possible from Alsace, France. A new profile has been created here, Hans Michael Nothstein but won't be merged until a source can be provided.

• Nothstein Brick Walls Multiple Nothstein/Notestein/Notestine/Nothstine families with little to no available information.

• Immigration and Migration Documenting the immigration and migratory paths of Nothstein families. Multiple Nothstein people/families have been found to have immigrated to American colonies, United States, Canada, Argentina, France and others.

• Y-DNA The Y chromosome is essentially passed down from father to son relatively unchanged. The link will take you to a page where a Y-DNA chart has been started.
