About the Project

The Bingham Name Study project serves as a collaborative platform to collect information on the Bingham name. The hope is that other researchers like you will join the study to help make it a valuable reference point for other genealogists who are researching or have an interest in the Bingham name.

As a One Name Study, this project is not limited to persons who are related biologically. Individual team studies can be used to branch out the research into specific methods and areas of interest, such as geographically (England Binghams), by time period (18th Century Binghams), or by topic (Bingham DNA, Bingham Occupations, Bingham Statistics). These studies may also include a number of family branches which have no immediate link with each other. Some researchers may even be motivated to go beyond the profile identification and research stage to compile fully sourced, single-family histories of some of the families they discover through this name study project.

Hi, I am interested in finding out more about my family tree. My Great Grandfather was Richard Henry Bingham born 1856 in Warwickshire, England. He migrated to Australia in July 1881 on the ship "Cassiope". I have managed to go back to Henry Able Bingham 1749 but not sure of my accuracy so would really like some help. Cheers Sharyne

Hello, Sharyne (Irvine Gotwald). I have almost exclusively done research on American Binghams. As a co-president of the Bingham Association (cofounded by my great grandfather), I have the Bingham "Red Book" and am very interested in helping to fill in gaps here on Wikitree, as well as continuing to address the gaps in the book (helping the living Binghams learn if they are descended from the Norwich branch of Binghams - see Deacon Thomas on the Notable Binghams page: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Notable_Binghams). But, alas, we know there are many Binghams worldwide and have scant info on the Bingham origins across the pond in the UK. Im sure there are some here with ancestry international access who can weigh in. Hopefully this is a good place place for folks in your situation to start. Good luck and happy hunting!

Notable Binghams: This is a good place to start listing Notable Binghams (wikitree profiles, individuals that should be considered notable, or those with no profile yet). Just reply here and those who've contributed will get an update. If we get a critical mass we can create a Team. I'll Start:

Just create a page and you can list them on it! Link it out in the Teams/Research Pages section. :-)

Good idea! I'm a little new to this, so, I couldn't find a "Teams/Research section" anywhere. I have now created a page for Notable Binghams. Can you let me know if a Teams/Research section is handled differently? I will gladly adjust to the ideal as necessary!

Nice!

Just use the [[Space:Notable Binghams|Notable Binghams] markup to link out to pages. I added the name study category on your notables page and also linked back to this name study page. All good. Feel free to add other pertinent research pages, Gerry! Nice collaborative effort!
