Emmons was born in 1871 in Stoughton, Massachusetts. He was the son of Marcus Porter and Harriet Jones. ^[1]

He married Alice Orton Page on 14 Feb 1901 in Boston, Massachusetts. ^[2]

He died in 1962 in Lodi, New York and was buried in Stoughton, Massachusetts. ^{[3] [4]}

• Find A Grave says that he died in 1967, but it is wrong, because Emmons’s obituary was published in a Rochester newspaper in 1962. See sources.
