Biography

Alvin was born 31 July 1803 in Massachusetts^[1] to John Poore Jr and Hannah.^[2]

Alvin and Julia were living in Washington, Washington, Indiana in 1850.^[1]

Alvan and Julia were living in West Fork Township, Ringgold, Iowa.^[3] Their household included Alvin M, Ann M, Danel W, Clinton E, Susan E, and Wesley A.

Alvan was a shoemaker early in life, then a cooper, and later yet, a farmer. He was an avid reader, deep thinker, well-respected for his opinions and a devout Christian. He was a great orator and preacher.
