He was a companion of William the Conqueror in the Norman invasion of England on 27 September 1066. He was noted as the "captor of Harald" (Harold Godwyn). He was a crusader on the first crusade between 1096 and 1097.

Just because Guy I succeeded Enguerrand II, that doesn't make him his father.

Although a lot of sites say Enguerrand II was Guy I's father they all appear to assume fatherhood because of succession and ignore the few dates that are available that show that Guy was born too soon to be Enguerrand II's son.
