William Pont was born in Brightling, Sussex, England.

William Pont was born shortly before 7 Mar 1830 in Brightling, Sussex, England to George Pont and Fanny Gower.He was baptised on 7 Mar 1830 at St Thomas a Becket church in Brightling.^[1]

When he was young, he lived with his parents in Brightling.^[2] He was already working as an agricultural labourer by the time he was eleven.

He worked as an agricultural labourer in Brightling and Iden, Sussex for his whole life.^{[3] [4]} (This page is missing on Ancestry.) ^[5] In 1881, he was living with his sister Ann.^[6]

William Pont died in the third quarter of 1887 in the district of Battle, Sussex (which includes Brightling).^[7] He was 57 years old.
