Biography

Alfred was born in about 1826 in St Giles in the Fields, Middlesex. He was the son of David Pollock.^[1][2]

He went to Westminster School, on to Peterhouse, Cambridge and then was a lawyer, a member of Lincoln's Inn.^[3]

In 1851 he was an articled clerk to a solicitor and living in lodgings in London.^[4]

On 31 July 1854, he married Caroline D H Currie in St James, Paddington.^[2]

In the 1861 census Alfred (age about 35) was living in Hampstead, with his wife. (where are the children?)^[1]

In the 1871 census Alfred (age about 45) was living in Hampstead St John, with his wife and their seven children.^[5]

He drowned while swimming on 10 August 1873 off the Isle of Wight.^[6][7]

He is buried in Brookwood Cemetery.^[8]
