Birth

James was born on 8th March 1840 in Saffron Walden, Essex^[1]. He was the son of James Pluck and Amelia Richardson. His baptism took place at St Mary the Virgin, Saffron Walden on 12th April 1840^[2]. His father stated on the register that he was a cordwainer and both his birth and baptism dates were recorded.
