Biography
Arthur John, son of Thomas Pitman, dairyman, & Mary Anne Pitman, of Woolstone, was born on 30 January 1845 and baptized on 25 February 1846 in North Cadbury, Somerset, England.[1] His birth was registered in the Jan-Feb-Mar quarter of 1846 in the Wincanton district.[2]
In the 1851 census Arthur (age 5), School at hom, was the son of Thomas Pitman in Lower Woolston, North Cadbury, Wincanton, Somerset, England.[3]
In the 1861 census Arthur (age 15), Farmers son, was the unmarried son of Thomas Pitman in Woolston, North Cadbury, Wincanton, Somerset, England.[4]
In the 1871 census Arthur (age 25), Farmer's son colleter of rates, was the son of Thomas Pitman at Farm House, North Cadbury, Wincanton, Somerset, England.[5]
In the 1881 census Arthur (age 35), Ag lab farmers son, was the unmarried son of Mary Ann Pitman in Woolston, North Cadbury, Wincanton, Somerset, England.[6]
Arthur John Pitman's death (age 37) was registered in the Oct-Nov-Dec quarter of 1883 in the Wincanton district.[7]
His probate was recorded as: PITMAN Arthur John. Personal Estate £22 11s 9d. 28 March [1883]. Administration of the Personal Estate of Arthur John Pitman late of Woolston in the Parish of North Cadbury in the County of Somerset Farmer a Bachelor who died 30 October 1883 at Woolston was granted at Wells to George Pitman of North Cadbury Relieving Officer the Brother.[8]
