  • Samuel Pinson Bro M 14 Born Feb 1886 Ark Ten Ala

Notes: Dwelling 146, Household 147. Enumerated 16 June 1900. House headed by James Syrus Pinson and his wife Delf Jackson, contains James' mother Caroline and younger siblings Andrew (Riley), Lillie and Sam.

Mother Caroline is misnamed Mary C. In no other record is she ever listed as anything but Caroline, including multiple censi, her marriage license and certificate and letters from her grandchildren. Yet, because of this one misnaming, she is found in various places misnamed as Mary Caroline. Caroline's father, Daniel Gilbert, is shown born in North Carolina, unlikely since he was shown his father appeared in Spartanburg County S.C. where his family had been since post Revolution.

James' father, John, is listed incorrectly as born Tennessee. When he was a small child, John's family moved from Gilmer County, Georgia (where he was shown as a baby in the 1850 census) to Polk County Tennessee. This probably caused the family to misinform the census taker.

Next door is the Jame's Jackson family. He was probably Delf (Jackson) Pinson's brother. On the other side is a Kelly family. The Kellys were also linked to the Pinsons by marriage. In household 144 145 is brother Arthur Pinson and his wife Texanna Kelly. A few doors before that is the Ed and Minnie (Hunt) Lackey family. Minnie was the half sister of Lizzie (Hunt) Pinson, wife of William Thomas Pinson, James Pinson's only older sibling.

  • Junior Lee Pinson son 11/12 Ark Ark. Ark

Notes: Dwelling 316 , Household 316 . Enumerated 6 May 1930. Son "H. Ell" died as a child? James' age at first marriage incorrectly listed as 38. He was only 36 at his second marriage. Anna listed as age 20 at her first marriage to James, although the marriage license showed her as 21. James older brother, William Thomas Pinson, and his wife, Lizzie Hunt, had previously named two sons Clarence (24 May 1916) and Raymond (2 Oct 1918). Neither given name had appeared in either the Pinson or Hunt lines before, so it's likely the names of their nephews appealed to either James or Annie.
