Sibyl Pierrepoint was born, birth year unknown, to John Pierrepoint, son of Sir Simon Pierrepoint, and Ela Calthorpe, daughter of Sir William Calthorpe.^[1]

Marriage and Children

She married, marriage date unknown, Sir Edmund de Ufford (known as le cousin)^[2], born before 1314 to Sir Thomas de Ufford and Eve de Clavering.^[1]

They had children:

• Ela de Ufford, born about 1356, married Sir Miles Stapleton, Lord Ingham, in Ingham, Norfolk, England.^[1]
• Robert de Ufford, KG, born about 1360, married Eleanor Felton.^[1]

Age and Parentage of Sibyl Pierrepoint

Sibyl's first child was born about 1356, so it is safe in assuming that her birth year would be about 1336, making her 20 years old.

The documentation regarding the parentage of Sibyl Pierrepoint is muddled, with various sources:

Douglas Richardson in Magna Carta Ancestry: A Study in Colonial and Medieval Families, 2nd Edition (2011), p. 397, names several sources with various fathers. but reaches the conclusion that she is the daughter of John Pierrepoint and not Simon based upon the Plea Rolls.
