The United Kingdom Project has not been active since 2018 and we are now completely closing it down. We are removing all UK project badges. If you still have an interest in the UK and have not already joined another project, then you will need to join the England, Ireland, Scotland or Wales Project by answering one or more of their G2G posts. If your interest is in the British Isles and British Crown Dependencies and Overseas Territories, then please contact me directly.
We realise the time has come to dissolve the UK Project in favour of the individual country projects of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
We are checking in with all UK badge holders to find out which country project(s) you would like to be in so you can collaborate with other members, have the opportunity to select which team(s) you would like to join, and so we can ensure you have all the correct badges.
Please respond by PM to let us know which country project(s) you would like to be in. Please dont assume we know. We are effectively starting from scratch to make sure no one falls through the cracks.
Once you have done this, the Coordinator for Membership in the relevant country project(s) will be in touch to help get you situated.

Thanks for joining, enjoy and good luck with your research
Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within the projects which coordinate them is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.
Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus, whether time period, location, or special event. Read the goals and tasks of the project and join if it is a good fit.
Let me know if you have trouble finding projects which fit your focus. Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page.
You've been a member for about a week so I thought I would check in to see how it's going. Have the How-Tos been helpful or left you with questions? Most of us have questions after all that information!
I want to help! Click my name, send me a private message or ask in the comment section of my page. Sometimes links don't work in emails. If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile. The links will work from there.

Let me know if you require assistance. I am happy to help. After adding my own family and ancestors I have found many cousins and distant ancestors here on WikiTree.
I'm rather new to genealogy, but my brother has been working on our tree for 30 years using Family Tree Maker. I've been using Ancestry.com to transfer information from his tree and hints for a few months. I just did the Ancestry DNA test.
My hope is to confirm where my ancestors immigrated from and to visit these places (Great Britain, Ireland, Germany, France), but I don't want incur travel expense until I know with certainty that my connections are valid. I also would like to have some mission to achieve when traveling to these countries (finding cemeteries, birth certificates, etc.) So much is online today.
Finding relatives who live abroad would be a big bonus.
This is just a note to say hello and to let you know that I'm available to answer questions about WikiTree. To contact me, click the link to my name, then send a private message or post a comment on my profile page.
