Elizabeth Jane Pell Gilbert (BIRTH 1820-26 DEATH 1906) , BURIAL Wayside Cemetery Stuart, Patrick County, Virginia, [1]Elizabeth age 74 is living with her daughter Margaret in the 1900 Census[2][if the 1860 census is correct, she was born ca. 1830.
Married John Gilbert on 22 Dec 1853 in Stokes County, NC.'[3] (The 1860 Census shows she was born in North Carolina and their first child was born in North Carolina.] Stokes NC and Patrick VA were contiguous areas (adjacent to each other).
Elizabeth Jane Pell Gilbert's application for a pension based on her husband's service in the Confederate army dated 28 March 1888 provides the source for her full name and shows the date of their marriage was 31 years ago [i.e., ca.1857].
