Edith was born in Edinburgh in 1879, eldest daughter and second child of Alexander Peden and Edith Good. She grew up in the family home at Morningside, Edinburgh.[1][2]
She did not marry and lived in Edinburgh all her life, firstly with her widowed mother, and later with her younger sister Elinor after she too was widowed.
She died in Edinburgh in 1976 at the age of 96, the longest-surviving of her siblings, and her name is recorded on a separate marker at the Peden family grave in Grange Cemetery, Edinburgh.[3]
