Biography

Francis Parkman was the son of Samuel Parkman and Sarah Rogers

In 1809 Rev. Francis Parkman D.D. was the Vice President of the Massachusetts Bible Society [1] He was also President of the Massachusetts Humane Society, where they funded to establish the Insane Hospital, funded for Charity beds at Mass General Hospital, an establishment for the Lying-in Women, and for lifeboats; making 18 in all to help save mariners.

Reverend Francis Parkman Sr. was a member of a distinguished Boston family. Parkman was minister of the Unitarian New North Church in Boston from 1813 to 1849.

Francis married Sarah Cabot on 27 Jan 1818 in Boston, Mass [2]

Rev Francis Parkman DD died on 12 Nov 1852 in Boston at Bowdoin Square, he died of apoplexy [5]

Published in the Piscataquis (ME) Observer on 18 Nov 1852 p3:

"DEATH OF THE REV. FRANCIS PARKMAN---We learn with regret that the Rev. Francis Parkman, D. D., deceased this morning at his house in Bowdoin Square, of apoplexy, after a few days of previous illness. He was one of our most distinguished divines, whose loss will be much felt by his friends and the community. He is in the 65th year of his age. [Boston Jour. Nov. 12]"

Rev Francis is buried at Mount Auburn Cemetery located in Cambridge, Middlesex, Massachusetts [6]
