Thomas Parke was born in 1705 in Ballyloan, County Carlow, Ireland.[1] He emigrated with his family to Pennsylvania. His father leased 276 acres to him in the Great Valley.[2] He married Jane Edge in 1739 and became the owner of all the original tract purchased by his father, including the "Ship" tavern, which was first opened by his brother Abel.[2] He died in 1758.[2]
