Biography

Moses Willis Osborn was born in East Windsor, Tolland County, Connecticut, on 12 Oct 1809. He was the son of Moses Osborn and Mary Shaw.[1]

On 11 Jun 1844, Moses applied for a license to marry Patience Margaret Heath in Erie County, Ohio.[2] They were married on 18 Jun 1844, in Florence, by H. Dwight, Minister of the Gospel.[3] Patience was born on 21 May 1814, and died little more than a year after her marriage, on 16 Jul 1845, in Erie County, Ohio. She was buried in the Poyer Cemetery in Berlin Heights, Erie County, Ohio.[4]

Apparently, Moses and Patience had no children, since the 1850 census found him alone, living in the household of his sister Hannah and her husband, Rev. Eldad Barber, a Presbyterian minister, in Florence Township, Erie County, Ohio. His profession was listed as "physician."[5]

On 11 May 1852, Moses married Mary E. (or H.) Akers in Vermilion, Florence Township, Erie County, Ohio. His brother-in-law, Rev. Eldad Barber (now pastor of a Congregational Church in Florence), officiated.[6]

Moses and Mary had at least one child:

  • Caroline Margaret Osborn (b. 17 Apr 1853, Florence Township, Erie County, Ohio; d. 9 Jul 1936, Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio)[7]
