Betsy Susan Nuttall (married name Summerfield) was born on 27 January 1875 in Meredith, Victoria, Australia, daughter of Mary (Ashworth) Nuttall and John Nuttall.^{[citation needed]}

She married George Summerfield on 17 April 1900 in Morwell, Victoria.^[1] Their children were:^{[citation needed]}

• Redvers Gordon Summerfield (1907–1975)
• Violet Mabel Summerfield (1909–1973)
• Mary Margaret Summerfield (1912–1970)
