Biography
John Norris RN MP is Notable.
John Norris was born about 1670 of unknown parentage but said to have come from a respectable Irish family.
On 30 May 1699, he married Elizabeth, daughter of Matthew Aylmer RN, 1st Lord Aylmer and his wife, Sarah Ellis. She was widow of Captain Chester Moore R.N. (d.s.p. 1696). Together they had nine sons and three daughters.
He was knighted at Whitehall on 25 November 1705 having been sent express by Admiral Cloudesley Shovell to inform the Queen of the taking of Barcelona. [1]
