Biography

Cloudsley Shovel was born on <25 Nov 1650 in Cockthorpe, Norfolk, England. Son of John Shovell, a Norfolk gentleman, and Anne Jenkinson.

Cloudsley married Elizabeth Hill (~1640 - 1732) on 10 Mar 1691.

Their children were...

1. Anne (Shovell) Mansell (>1691 - 1741)
2. Elizabeth (Shovell) Carmichael (1692 - 1750).

Cloudsley died on 22 Oct 1707 at sea off the Isles of Scilly aged 56.
