Montague Alfred (Monty) Noble was an Australian cricketer, journalist and also a dentist.
He was born on 28 January 1873 in Sydney, the eighth and youngest son of English parents Joseph Noble, grocer and later a builder, and his wife Maria (née Collins).
Monty Noble played 42 Cricket Tests for Australia, and he Captained the team for 15 of these between 1903 and 1909. He retired from First Class cricket in 1920 and moved into banking, and then dentistry. He had also written and published several works on cricket and eventually also became a noted commentator and broadcaster of the sport.
He studied dentistry with the foremost teacher of the day Henry Peach at his New South Wales College of Dental Surgery. Becoming a a registered Dentist on the 15 April 1901, and practiced in Macquarie Street, Sydney. In 1902 he was honorary assistant dental surgeon at the Dental Hospital in Sydney. And was president of the Dental Association of New South Wales in 1915 and served on the State's Dental Board in 1916-21.
On the 14th of January 1914 Monty Noble married Elizabeth Ellen Ferguson and they had four children: Joan, Maurice, Nona and Rodney. He passed away in Sydney on 22 June 1940 and is buried in the Anglican section of Randwick General Cemetery in Sydney, New South Wales in Australia.
