William sued his mother and her second husband Hugh Morris over the settlement of his father's estate. His brothers-in-law Thomas Christian and David Pattison were witnesses. Secondly, we find by the evidence of David Pattison that the said Edmund New acknowledged his hand and seal to the bond specified etc. but without delivery. Kindly we find no consideration therefore if the Law is for the plaintiff. We find £50 current otherwise for the defendant..." The court being of the opinion that the Law is for the defendants, it is considered that the defendants go hence without day and that they recover against the plaintiff their costs by them in this behalf expended and a Lawyers fee.
Also, William New to pay his witness Thomas Christian one day's costs for attendance: 30 lbs. tobacco plus costs[2]

In my database I show a Priscilla Sampson as William New's wife, however, unfortunately, I don't have any dates or sources recorded, but at least is it a clue for anyone interested.
