Peter Nelson was born in Dacre, Yorkshire, England.

Peter was born about 1823[2][3].
He married Hamutal Shepherd on 3 March 1851 in Otley[1]. They had eight children: Sarah Shepherd (1849 - 1893)[2], Ellen Shepherd (1851 - 1902)[2][3], Peter (1852 - X)[2], Matthew (1854 - 1877)[2][3], William (1856 - 1939)[2], John Thomas (1863 - 1915)[3], Mary Jane (1865 - 1931)[3] and Elizabeth Ann (1871 - X)[3].
He died, aged 71[4], in 1894[4].

- There were two Peter Nelsons born in Dacre around 1823, so care needs to be taken in ensuring the correct one is linked. Houseman-341
