Biography

Son of Mårten Tufvesson and Hanna Matsdotter. Moved from Övreby to Sövdeborg in 1823. Husband of Kjersti Andersdotter Nyman. During the early years of their marriage, Tufve worked as a stablehand at the Sövdeborg and Snogeholm estates in Sövde parish, and his wife lived with her parents. Tufve moved with his wife and two children to Tryde and then from Tryde to Dybäck Säteri in Östra Vemmenhög in 1826. There, he worked as a coachman. He moved to Odersberga säteri in Fjälkestad parish in 1829, but the Östra Vemmenhög household records for wife and children say that they moved back to Sövde parish.

In 1830, Tufve and his wife and children moved to Fredriksdal in Råbelöv parish, where he worked as a coachman While the family lived there, daughter Ingrid died at age 11.

From 1855, he worked as a groom at Areslöv säteri in Färslöv parish. He died of tuberculosis at age 61.

Research Notes

In the birth records of his two oldest children, his last name is written as Mårtensson, which was his patronymic. His wife's family name was Nyman and her patronymic Andersdotter. He used his wife's family name in later records.
