Clyde D Motz completed his WWI draft registration on 12 September 1918 in Wells, Indiana.[3][4] He enlisted as a Private in the US Army on 1 October 1918 in Bluffton, Wells, Indiana, and was discharged on 14 December 1918.[5][6]

Clyde D Motz married Gretchen L Costello on 10 March 1923 in Wells, Indiana.[8][9][10] The marriage was announced in The Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette, Fort Wayne, Indiana, on Monday, March 12, 1923[11]:

"MARRIAGE LICENSES - BLUFFTON, Ind., March 10. -- Marriage licenses were issued here today as follows: Clyde D. Motz, 24, produce buyer at Markle, a son of William F. Motz, and Miss Gretchen Costello, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Art A. Costello."

Clyde D Motz, son of W F Motz & Mary Zimmble, died (age 45) on 14 February 1944 in Fort Wayne, Allen, Indiana, and was buried in Fairview Cemetery in Bluffton, Wells, Indiana.[15][16]

Death notice in The Indianapolis News, Indianapolis, Indiana, Tuesday, February 15, 1944[17]:

"Dies at Ice Show. - FT. WAYNE, Ind., Feb. 15 (UP) -- Clyde Motz, 45, Bluffton grocer, died of a heart attack Monday night suffered while attending an ice show at North Side High School. He had driven his family here for the performance."
