Charles F. Moody was a drummer in the 5th Maine Infantry. [2] Charles Moody tried to join several regiments before being accepted in the 5th Regiment. At enlistment, he weighed 83 pounds. [3] On December 15, 1861, Charles Moody, age 14, enlisted as a drummer in the 5th Maine Infantry. During his service, Moody served in Companies A and H of the 5th Regiment. [4]
Moody was present at the Battle of Gettysburg as a drummer in Company H, 5th Maine. [3]
