Biography

Margaretha Aletta Mol is the daughter of Jacobus Cornelis Claassen Mol & Maria Elizabeth Rachel van Niekerk. Margaretha was born at Riversdal 4 May 1847, and baptized 25/7/1847 in the DR church at Riversdal, Cape Colony. Witness: Pieter Gerhardus Swart with Engela Christina Siebert.^[1]

Known as Magrieta...the family travelled to Pietermaritzburg, then Wakkerstroom district Transvaal with her father J.C.C. Moll, where he was a Landrost for some time. Margaretha Aletta Mol was married to Bernardus Pieter Johnstone at Wakkerstroom 18 September 1865 by Landros D.T. Vremge, witnessed by Johannes Vos Landros klerk.^[2]

Margriet Johnstone died 29 May 1888, aged 41 and survived by her husband and 8 children ^[3] and is buried at Dassiefontein 389, the Johnstone Farm Cemetery.^[4]
