My name is Mark Neuhoff. My Neuhoff family are Danube Swabians who went to Hungary in the 1700s. I see that it is possible the Dutch recruited Swabians to go to the cape in the 1700s. I know that there is a Cape Neuhoff family and I see you might have some in your tree. I am curious to learn of the Y-DNA haplogroup of the Cape Neuhoff family to see if my family is related. Please let me know if you know anyone from the Cape Neuhoff family that might be willing to collaborate.
-Mark
Thank you so much for writing to me about Neuhoff/Nyhoff family Mark. To my knowlegde I do not know of any Y-DNA haplogroup in this family at the Cape colony. According to my information the Nyhoff proginator Jan Hendrik Nyhoff/ Johann Heinrich Neuhoff came from Wenigerrode (Germany), and was the son of Johan Michael Niehoff (from Langeln) and Anne Catherine Freudenberg. He arrived at the Cape in 1760 as a soldier, and later he was a blacksmith. He became a citizen of the Cape during 1765, and was married 27/10/1765 to Cornelia Ley. (5 children). <ref> C. Pama - Die Groot Afrikaans Familie naamboek. 1983 page 234. </ref>
I hope this information assists you in expanding your Neuhoff family tree.
Kindly - Geoff.

We are so happy you decided to upgrade to the Family Member level.
Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: How To Use WikiTree. They will save you time, energy, and frustration as you add your family profiles.
Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.
Questions? You can always use the G2G link in the Help Menu to find answers.

I trust you are keeping well in the Netherlands in our new era age... Thanks so much for the question..: When I created Venter-2899, Wikitree gave me 12 matches, to check and verify' as possible matches for her. Once I confirmed this profile, these possible matches stayed there, so I deleted them, as they sometimes, just create confusion. Sometimes as you know, they give you matches even with the incorrect spelling, nothing to do with the new profile, (USA or UK address) yet according to Wiki, a possible match. Kindest, Geoff.
We hope you are all well
