Biography

James Miles was born in 1861 in Leith, Scotland.^[1] His mother's maiden name was listed as Ferney. His parents are said to be William Miles and Margaret Reid (Ferney) Miles.^[2]

In the 1881 census James (age 19), Commercial Clerk, was the son of William Miles at 28 Summerside St, Leith, Leith North, Midlothian.^[3]

James (~32) married Alice Eva Marsh (~33) (1860 - 1947) in 1893 in Cowra, New South Wales.^[4] They had four known children.
