Biography
Graduated from Princeton in 1819. Secretary to U.S. legation in St. Petersburg, Russia in the early 1820s.
A successful rice planter on the Waccamaw River near Georgetown in South Carolina.
John Izard Middleton married Sarah (Sally) McPherson Alston (d. 1878), daughter of John Ashe Alston and Sarah McPherson. They had six children: Henry (Hal or Harry); Sarah McPherson, John Izard, Thomas Alston, Mary Helen and Maria Henrietta.
He had an uncle by the same name.
